14,000 Gallons!

I am still in shock! I managed to use 14,000 gallons of water in my first month in the house. I am living here by myself - oh help, sorry planet! One of my colleagues at work was also commenting about the obscene amount of water he used in his first water bill, but now he is used to it. I know what are the real culprits - the pool and the sprinkler system. The grass is going to have to toughen up and I will have to be quicker in the shower, but there is not a lot I can do about evaporation. All this on the day of the G8 and climate change.

As for the electricity I don't really know if it is obscene or not yet. I will have to ask everyone else how many units they use a month. The bill certainly seems more expensive than back home but that is no surprise with the air conditioning running all day, even though I put up the temperature in the morning.

I ended up at work until late tonight, not actually working talking (no surprise there!), so by the time I left it was nearly 6:30pm. I went straight to the swimming pool, however I didn't get home until 9pm after going shopping, hence the rubbish photo. I have completed my food and water preparation for any hurricanes coming this way. I still have a couple of things to get, which I will complete this week. The other key thing to do is know an evacuation route and where to go, which I also haven't done.

I have just looked at the weather and it is currently 30 degC at 1030pm!!!
