Curing jet lag

Last night we had a fantastic night with Laura and Chris trying out things in the neighbourhood. We first went to Lynn's steakhouse, which looked a plain building from the front, and inside was totally not what any of us expected. The waiters were properly dressed up and the place looked posh - there was us in shorts and flip flops! However, that didn't seem to worry them, as I guess our money was more appealing than our dress sense (especially as there only three other tables occupied on a Saturday evening!). We asked for the wine list, and we could already predict it was going to be extensive because of the number of bottles lining the walls. Well Stuart and Chris were both given a bible! I hope you might be able to see from the picture the thickness of the menu in Stuart's hands. Stuart played 'top trumps' with the wine costs, and the most expensive he found was $1965.00, and that was not the year!!! In the end we asked the waiter to help us choose a wine at a much more conservative price around $50!!!

Dinner just had to be steak in a steakhouse. Both Stu and I had a rib eye, however the smallest available was 16 oz!!! There was not a hope I could finish it, even without having a starter. However, I did manage some strawberries and raspberries, but even those I left for Chris to finish off. It was a good dinner and would certainly recommend it.

We were walking back home, when we decided to try out the local pub, the Ashford pub. It was picked on one of my earlier blogs as looking like the pub in Shameless (Channel 4 TV program). We it was very lively and there was a live band playing Irish music and place was packed. We stayed there until the wee small hours dancing and having fun. It is always the best cure for jet lag I find! Having now looked at the pubs website it is an Irish theme pub and it has karaoke nights on Monday's!

Due to a late night today was spent by the pool, actually Stuart woke me up at 8am, put on his swim trunks and went out to the pool, I followed in my PJ's. He stood at the edge before deciding it was too cold that early and he needed to wait until the sun rose!! Once Chris and Lura surfaced we had a lovely brunch of scrambled eggs, Laura homemade meatloaf and Heinz baked beans :)

The day then continued lounging by the pool enjoying the slight improvement in the weather. This evening, we were out again around to a friend from work and her boyfriends house for dinner. It was a nice evening and a calmer pace than the night before. We spent a long while watching her mad kitten, Cosmos, run around the room and just generally be bad behaved. She has another cat called Ginger man', yes the cat is ginger, and look just like Mussolini back home.

We are both ready for sleep now, and at least I have got the day off tomorrow!
