Yummy!

For ages I've been wanting to try to make Sourdough bread, but the temperature in the UK has always been to cold to get it started. A couple of days ago I successfully made a Sourdough starter and fed it over 2 days until it was fragrant and sour to taste. This morning I put it in the only oven pan we have at the moment to prove and then cooked it this evening. Wow! It is so much better than yeast based breads. You have to try to make it if you can.

As well as the bread I made Hatch Chile Gazpacho, as the Hatch chilies are coming to the end of their season. Recipe below;
  • 2 mild Hatch chiles
  • 1 large tomato (skinned)
  • 1 small seedless cucumber (skinned)
  • 1 spring onion (scallion)
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • 1 tablespoon of lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon of tomato paste
  • 8oz of chicken stock
  • 1 teaspoon of smoked paprika
  • salt & pepper to taste

    Add everything to a blender and then chill for at least 2 hours
